Speech and Language Therapy
Communication is the essence of human interaction and learning. It is the process by which we express our thoughts and feelings at home, in school, at work, and in play and social activities within our communities. Becoming a successful communicator encompasses developing the ability to understand what others are saying to us, using the sounds of our language correctly in order to be better understood, formulating sentences and narratives to express our thoughts fully, and developing and understanding the nuances related to social language interactions.

The role of speech therapy and speech and language pathologists is to maximize communication potential and success in those who have difficulty developing the full range of speech and/or language skills or who have lost skills due to injury or illness, so that they can most fully and independently interact with others. In addition to enhancing communication skills, speech pathologists also provide assistance to those who have swallowing difficulties related to neurological, oral motor, or sensory issues. At Project CHILLD, we work with children and their families in a fun and dynamic environment to meet each individual child’s needs, and to challenge and support each child to improve his or her skills in the areas of communication and swallowing/feeding.
