Alex Baker, PsyD

Assessment Psychologist
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Alex Baker is a clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience
completing psychological and neuropsychological testing. He joined the
Project CHILLD team in 2024 to support the expansion of psychological and
assessment services. Prior to his arrival, Dr. Baker provided comprehensive
assessments with both Salem and Somerville Hospitals, while also
coordinating inpatient pediatric testing services with Cambridge Health
Alliance (CHA). Additionally, he has experience working with therapeutic
schools and Individualized Education Program (IEP) determinations to help
children receive needed academic supports.

 

Dr. Baker's clinical training and areas of experience include autism,
psychosis, risk evaluations, school assessments, and family-oriented interventions. He also has experience in providing comprehensive dialectical behavior therapy
(DBT) and parent coaching for families of children and teens struggling
with risky behaviors. He has supervised doctoral trainees in APA-accredited
training programs in areas of both testing and therapy. Dr. Baker’s
research areas of interest include everyday moral reasoning, recognizing
autism in girls, developmental trauma, and integrating psychology with
video games. He has developed a therapy group for adolescents in residential settings focused on social justice and moral decision-making..

Dr. Baker earned his B.A. in Psychology from California State University
Chico in 2011 and his doctorate from the University of Hartford in 2018.
His professional experience includes speaking engagements with the
University of Hartford in 2024, the Annual Conference for California Mental
Health Advocates for Children and Youth in 2021, and advocating for mental
health bills in Sacramento, California in 2019. Additionally, Dr. Baker has
served as an instructor in psychology with the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.​​
