Testimonial I
Dear Project CHILLD,
I have wanted to write to you for some time now but always seem to have difficulty finding the right words. I will try again as this is long overdue. To begin, I want to thank you for being the amazing people that you are. No one ever chooses this path, but when you are fortunate enough to meet therapists who are highly skilled, highly knowledgeable and possess the compassion that all of you do, it makes this road quite a bit smoother.
As you know, both Meaghan and Nicholas have been through the Tomatis program with each experiencing different things and having different results. I will begin by talking about Meaghan. When Meag first started the program two years ago, we saw immediate changes in her. On the second day, she began having difficulty sleeping and started tocking/swaying and jumping a lot. I was scared to death at first. Soon after that, her language output improved and became much more advanced. Several days into the therapy, her sleep improved and she would wake totally refreshed, happy and ready to immediately engage. This was huge!!! As you know, Meag's diagnosis of Mitochondrial disease presents with high levels of fatigue. It has always been difficult to arouse Meag in the morning. Meag also began sharing her interests without prompting and her processing seemed somewhat better. Furthermore, Meag's S.I. needs seemed to diminish or at least lessen in their intensity. We have been through many different therapies over the years but Tomatis had the most immediate and profound effect. Even my husband, the eternal skeptic, independently noted that there were many changes going on and he too attributed them to your program.
Once we started the portion of the training where Meag listened to my voice through a filter, she became highly emotional and began discussing things that dated back to her infancy. I am still at a loss to understand how she could retain those memories and so many years later, discuss them with a high degree of accuracy. Meag needed me to be right near her at that time and wanted to cuddle a great deal.
We continued to see growth until Meag developed an ear infection that took some time to clear. We continued decided to come back to Tomatis for a boost, and things improved again. Meag has continued going forward. Her reasoning has improved, her grades in school have improved and most recently, Meag's neuropsych stated that she no longer fits criteria for development disability. All in all, we have been amazed at the progress Meaghan has made since beginning her therapy with you.
Recently, Meag has gone through a great deal of growth and has seemed pretty fragile. Last week Meag articulated incredibly well that she needed to go back to Tomatis because "noises are starting to bother her again, she feels bad about herself a lot and the music makes her feel calm and happy." I thought hat was the most profound realization she has had in regard to self regulation. We are forever indebted to you.
Sincerely,
Terry B.
