Project Cruise Control

Drivers, Start Your Engines!

Learn how to tune and adjust your engine.

This 5 day program is based on The Alert Program by Mary Sue Williams and Sherry Sellenberger. The main focus is to help children learn to monitor, maintain, and change their level of alertness so that it is appropriate to a situation or task. Concepts will be learned in the clinic setting and applied in the community over a 5 day span.

Crew Chiefs: Tara Savoie, MSOTR/L and Christine King COTA/L look forward to guiding your child and family in dealing with self-regulation issues.

Pit Stops

First Day: Join Tara and Christine at Project CHILLD from 9-12. Day 1 will introduce this cognitive approach to helping your child learn about the different states of alertness. They will learn the basic terminology and how to label their state of alertness.

Day 2: At Project CHILLD, we will expand on day 1. This day will begin to focus on how to change your state of alertness and how to implement these sensory strategies (talk about sensory tools) 9-12.

Day 3: Test run the concepts learned. Fueled with engine terminology and sensory strategies “for the road” we will visit a grocery a grocery store to apply the learned concepts. Then we will make our way to the local park for a picnic lunch and more learning opportunities.

Day 4: Second test run of the concepts learned. This time we will explore the mall and rise to the challenge of eating lunch in the food court while maintaining an optimal engine speed.

Day 5: Race Day. Family is encouraged to attend this last day at the Bowl-O-Mat for a few strings of bowling. This recreational activity will serve as a vehicle for the family to utilze the engine concepts with the help and guidance of Project Cruise Control’s Crew Chiefs.
