Mary Lou Gagnon, OTR/L, joined Project CHILLD in June of 2005 and in 2008 assumed the position of Clinical Director. She graduated from Salem State College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She taught briefly as a long term substitute in a preschool setting before choosing to stay at home to raise her two wonderful children. Mary Lou served as the president of her town's special education Parent's Advisory Committee for 8 years, volunteered at the Office for Children, and served for 2 years as a representative to the Massachusetts Regional Advisory Board for Special Education during this time. She completed her A.S. OTA in 1993 at North Shore Community College and worked as a COTA/L in rehab, hospital, VNA, and school systems until 2003. Mary Lou graduated with High Honors from the Salem State College COTA to OTR program in 2003 and has worked in hospital, adult and pediatric outpatient clinic, and school system settings for the past three years. Mary Lou is SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Test) certified and has provided teacher in-service workshops on Sensory Processing for Parents, Fine Motor Skills for the Classroom Teacher, Enhancing Classroom Learning through Movement ,and Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities in local school systems.
